An Omaha mother is relieved that her teenage son has returned after three nights away from home. But she is also upset because some of his friends helped hide him from his family.
For three nights, 13-year-old Bailey Kolvek was away from home and away from his mother who was very worried about her missing son.
Rose Kolvek had said, “I want him home. Please no matter what we go through just come home to me. I miss you and I love you.”
Bailey missed track practice and was without his medication. He had an argument with his mother and he’d been grounded. He didn’t like the punishment and he took off. Some people who tracked the boy on social media while others beat the bushes.
Rose said, “I have a lot of brothers and sisters. They been out looking for my son and all his friends from high school have been out looking.”
Bailey turned up at a convenience store and was reunited with this mother.
“I'm relieved but at the same time I'm upset because I have learned the kids were hiding him,” Rose said. She told us, “They thought it was all fun and games and they just had a great weekend.”
Bailey was with relatives on Monday evening.
Rose plans to give a list of names of the children who helped hide her son to the school principal. She also plans to talk to the county attorney to see if anything can be done on that level.
