Lincoln police say the case of a missing child was all a misunderstanding.
The principal at Humann Elementary School called police Wednesday morning to report a 5-year-old boy was missing. He actually went to the wrong classroom.
Another student in that classroom was absent Tuesday and Wednesday. When the teacher took attendance, the "missing" boy told the teacher he was that other student. Because it's the second day of school, teachers are still working on learning faces.
The school allowed the "missing" boy's mother to use the PA system, asking her son to come to the office. When the boy stood up, the teacher realized the error.
Police called out the K-9 units and a helicopter to search for the boy, who was thought to be missing for about an hour.
