Miss America, Teresa Scanlan, returns to her home state for the first time since being crowned.
Scanlan received keys to two cities and shared insights into her faith on the first day home.
She told students at Community Christian School in Scottsbluff to dream big and not be afraid of being different. Scanlan was raised in Gering and graduated from high school in Scottsbluff. Her brother is a student at Community Christian School.
Scanlan is scheduled to make appearances on Friday in North Platte and Saturday in La Vista.
Scanlan is the first Miss Nebraska to win the Miss America title. She was crowned last month.
