A federal judge will sentence the founder of a Cedar Falls brokerage today after he pleaded guilty to fraud and embezzlement. Prosecutors are asking for a 50-year sentence for Peregrine Financial Group chairman Russ Wasendorf Senior.
The 64-year-old attempted suicide outside the company's headquarters last summer shortly before regulators learned that $200 million was missing.
