First Lady Michelle Obama spoke to more than 2,000 people at CenturyLink Omaha Tuesday afternoon. She was invited to speak at a fundraiser for Girls, Inc.
Mrs. Obama joined a long line of prestigious speakers who have helped Girls Inc. raise money for its educational and recreational programming. Her husband spoke at the event when he was a U.S. Senator in 2005.
During her speech, Mrs. Obama said we cannot let one girl go by without tapping into her full potential. “We can't afford it. If the talent of one girl goes unrecognized, if one girl's dreams go unrealized, if one girl is denied opportunities for reasons that have nothing to do with her talent, or character, or work ethic than we all miss out."
She encouraged supporters of Girls Inc. in the crowd to keep believing in girls.
