A large grass fire broke out northwest of Omaha on Wednesday afternoon.
Several areas were covered by patches of flames and the smoke was evident for miles.
This was generally in the area of Lake Cunningham, near Bennington Road and 96th Street.
Thick, black smoke from the fire filled the sky and a number of passing motorists pulled off the road for a closer look.
There was no initial word on how it started or whether any property was threatened by the flames. There have been no reports of injuries.
