A man wanted for manslaughter in Lincoln has been located and arrested in Denver. Police say Charles Blowers is responsible for the death of his girlfriend who died of methamphetamine toxicity.

The case dates back to May 26, 2011 when Blowers, who is now 49 years old, woke up to find his girlfriend dead. An investigation revealed that he provided 26-year-old Latrice Shaner with meth just before she died.

Police noted that there has been a significant amount of time between Shaner’s death and the decision to issue an arrest warrant for Blowers, which was January 7th of this year.

“Thoughtful consideration and discussions among the district attorney’s office and county attorney’s office delayed the issuance of a warrant," police said in a statement. "Both offices wanted to examine the best avenue for prosecuting the violations, through federal law or state statute. It was ultimately decided to charge at the county level with manslaughter and the drug charges.”

Blowers was arrested January 24th. He is expected to be extradited to Lancaster County.

Police noted they will “vigorously investigate overdose deaths. Individuals who provide drugs, whether street drugs or prescriptions, that contribute to death may be charged with crimes related to that death.”
