Met Life Blimp Visits Omaha

Those of us who have been looking to the sky may have seen birds and planes but there's something else we may have noticed...the Met Life blimp.

The blimp has been flying over the omaha metro area the past few's kind of on standby.

This is Snoopy Two and it's being temporarily housed at the Council Bluffs Airport in between events.

Bret Viets is in his sixth years as pilot of Snoopy Two. This craft and it's companion airship Snoopy One are at a combined 70 events and travel 120,000 miles each year.

“It's not leftovers, I wouldn't want to put it that way,” Viets said. “We actually chose Omaha to come up to. We didn't have a football game this week an NFL game, we were in Kansas City for last week's game we're going back for three Chiefs games straight and so this gave us a little break coming out of Kansas City and jump on the I-29 and come up and see all the fine folks up here.”

Along with two pilots, the blimp has a ground support crew of 12 more.

And don't worry about problems --- this is a helium filled blimp.
