Mentors Pool Resources

A mentor can change a young person's life for the better and dozens or organizations joined together Wednesday to talk about how they can extend the impact.

It was the fifth annual Midlands Mentoring Partnership Summit at CenturyLink Center.

The groups want to learn how best to pool their resources, save money, and utilize the money they have in order to reach more kids.

Organizers say a mentor’s role in a child's life can make a world of a difference.

Deborah Neary, with Midlands Mentoring Partnership, said, "We really try to help to get kids that don't have that - give them more adult support so they can make better choices in their own life. And the research shows that having a mentor can make a huge difference in a young person's life."

Paul Tough, who wrote a New York Times best seller on how kids can achieve success, was guest speaker at the event.
