Megabus service to Des Moines, Iowa City and Chicago began Wednesday morning. The first Megabus run out of Omaha left from the curbside at Crossroads Mall at a little after ten in the morning on Wednesday.

Megabus fares to Chicago start at as low as a dollar and go up as the bus fills up. Bargain hunters were at curbside waiting for the first ride.

Retired Bellevue pediatrician Dr. Manju Patney was going to Chicago. She and her husband had one way tickets that cost $8.25 each. Patney says " It's fantastic, you can't beat that any other route by car or you know by plane"

The busses will leave twice a day from 72nd and Dodge. The schedule has departures at 10am and 10pm. The bus runs to Chicago with stops in Des Moines and Iowa City.
