At the Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center Friday, years of hard work all came down to one thing for med students being paired with their future residency program.
Nick Mancuso and 137 others from Creighton's School of Medicine were matched, Mancuso was especially happy because his wife is currently studying at the University of Iowa, too.
"Knowing that I was going to be spending the next three years in the same city as my wife, working towards our mutual goal of becoming the best doctors we can, at a great hospital too, was just an amazing feeling. And then the crowd reaction I felt like I just hit a game winning shot, which was pretty cool,” Mancuso said.
Med students over at the UNMC were also matched Friday, 122 seniors received their residency assignments, and half are staying in the state to continue their training. Areas of concentration included family and internal medicine, surgery and pediatrics.
