Donald Wolf, the father of Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, passed away at his home Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 88.
Mr. Wolf was born and raised in Wood River, Illinois, graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School and served in the United States Navy. After his military service he returned to Wood River where he married his wife Janice and began a lifelong career at Amoco Oil.
Donald and Janice met in high school. They were married for 67 years and raised four children: Mark, Jean, Linda and Gary.
In a statement released Tuesday evening, Mayor Stothert is quoted as saying, “My dad liked to be at home. It’s fitting he died in the house where our family has decades of memories. I was able to visit my mom and dad last weekend. I am grateful for that time together.”
Funeral arrangements in Illinois are pending.
