Mayor Jim Suttle kicked off his “Omaha’s Working ” jobs tour Tuesday with a visit to Union Pacific. The company employees 4300 people in Omaha.
This is the first of 40 local employers that Suttle is scheduled to meet with over the next two months.
The tour is designed to thank employers for their positive impact on the local economy and solicit advice on how the city can continue to grow and create jobs. “I want to thank our businesses for continuing to invest in our city and its people, and for playing such a major role in Omaha’s success,” said Mayor Suttle.
Suttle will visit 40 businesses, both large and small, before the end of the year. The tour will span the city from east to west and north to south, and highlight the city’s key industries, as well as its small businesses and emerging start-up community.
