WOWT NBC Omaha is once again a proud sponsor of the Salvation Army Baconfest in a few weeks and on Wednesday, one little pig was breathing easier after some welcome words from the mayor.
“I proclaim Sal pardoned,” Mayor Stothert said, “to live her life unthreatened by this or any future Salvation Army Baconfest. Sal, you are officially pardoned."
Sal comes from Litchfield, Nebraska and with the mayor’s pass will be returning home.
Last year's inaugural Baconfest raised $30,000 for scholarships to the Salvation Army's Kroc Center in South Omaha.
This year's event is September 7th and looks to be even bigger.
There's entertainment and local chefs will create items using bacon.
