Omaha's acting Planning Director Jame Thele will formally take over the full-time duties of that position and he'll have the assistance of former Planning Director Steve Jensen.
The appointments were announced Monday by Mayor Jean Stothert who said, "Together, James and Steve will make a great team to move our Planning Department and city forward in a positive direction."
Thele has been acting director since June. He previously served in a number of city government positions including Director of the Mayor's Office of Economic Development and later as Assistant Planning Director.
Jensen retired as Planning Director in 2009 after a career that began with an internship in the department in 1972.. As a paid consultant he'll earn up to $100,000 a year without benefits and will continue to receive his $114,000 annual pension.
