Omaha City Council President Tom Mulligan has added two items to the agenda Tuesday that calls for a pay freeze for those in the top positions of city government.
A previous council established a compensation structure that has increased the salaries of the mayor and members of the city council every year. If Mulligan’s proposal is passed then the mayor – whoever it is – would receive a salary increase of $3,311 on January 1, 2014. His or her pay would then be frozen at $113,680 through the year 2018.
If Mulligan’s proposal is passed for council members, then each council member would receive a $1,089 increase on January 1, 2014. The $37,378 would also be frozen through the year 2018.
Those items are #69 and #70 on the agenda for Tuesday.
