Poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou has died at the age of 86. She had reportedly been battling health issues; however, the cause of death has not been released.
Angelou was arguably one of the most renowned and influential voices of our time. She was a celebrated poet, novelist, educator, producer, actress, filmmaker and civil rights activist.
She had been set to speak in Omaha on June 9 at the Orpheum Theater.
Omaha Performing Arts says those who purchased tickets will receive automatic full refunds. Emails went out to ticketholders on Wednesday.
