Heavy, wet snow broke a tree branch that fell on a power line, sparking an Omaha house fire Thursday morning.
Residents told investigators they were awakened when they heard a large branch fall and hit the home at 46th and Curtis, knocking out power around 2:45 a.m. When they saw a flickering through the back window they evacuated the residence and called 911.
It took firefighters less than a half-hour to extinguish the fire. The house sustained extensive damage.
The Red Cross was at the scene to assist the occupants. No injuries were reported.
