As the weather keeps heating up, the Salvation Army locations in the Omaha area are offering a chance to cool off.
The charity has opened cooling centers this week, since the recent heat wave.
Many kids and adults have stopped inside locations like the one at 30th and Pratt to cool off, and get a drink of water.
Many say the cooling centers prevent the worst from happening.
“As hot as it's been, and as hot as it's going to be, heat stroke and sun stroke and everything else, it's going down really hard this year," said Dennis Coburn, one man visiting to cool off.
Each Salvation Army location is inviting anyone in need to come take shelter from the heat from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week.
