Lincoln police say that 18-year-old Lincoln man put a gun to his head and fired.
Lincoln Police Capt. David Beggs said the incident began just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Police were called to a home southeast of downtown Lincoln after a man pulled a handgun but fled an altercation at the home.
Beggs said officers and a dog tried to find the man, who was spotted in an alley just a few blocks away. Beggs said an officer was present when man put the gun to his own head and pulled the trigger.
The man, whose name is not being released, was taken to a hospital and is expected to live.
