A man with a history of burglary and theft charges and convictions in several states has been sentenced to prison in Nebraska for a break-in at a used furniture store in Beatrice.
Fifty-two-year-old Shawn Cowart was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison. He was charged in November with breaking into The Pink Elephant and stealing money.
During sentencing, Judge Paul Korslund noted Cowart's long burglary and theft history, including cases in California, Texas, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Indiana and Utah.
Cowart was previously sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison on prior burglaries.
