A 34-year old man has died after being pinned under a tractor which had rolled into a large burn pit. Eagle and Alvo Fire & rescue responded with Cass County, Nebraska deputies responded about 12:35pm Sunday.
The victim, identified as Ryan S. Smith, was pronounced dead when first responders arrived at 7104 238th Street in Alvo.
A companion of Smith told first responders that the tractor became stuck on the edge of the burn pit. The two tried to remove it with a truck. When that failed to work, the companion drove the truck on the other side of the house. While that was happening, the tractor rolled into the fire pit, which was now smoking, and overturned pinning Smith under the fender.
