A Marshalltown man is in custody after police say he tried to stab his wife and her stepfather on New Year's Eve.

Police say 34-year-old Javier Juarez is accused of assaulting
the two with a knife late Saturday at a house. He then fled the
scene.

The two victims were taken to a hospital.

Juarez was taken into custody Sunday evening when police found
him at the house.

Juarez faces several charges, including aggravated domestic
assault. The Marshall County sheriff's office says he remains in
jail on Monday. Officials say the public defender's office has been
appointed to represent him, but no attorney is assigned to his
case.
