A 27-year-old man has been given jail time for stealing a bus in Lincoln and failing to appear in court.
Taylor Nixon had pleaded no contest to the two charges. Published reports reveal that at his sentencing on Thursday, Nixon was given 240 days for the theft and 180 days for skipping the court appearance.
Nixon stole the Centennial Public Schools District bus from a
mall parking lot on Jan. 19, 2010. The bus had been used to bring students from Utica to an event at Lincoln Southwest High School.
The driver then drove to the mall and left the keys inside the bus.
The stolen bus was spotted the next day in an alley just north
of downtown Lincoln. Nixon was found inside and arrested.
