An Alabama man has been sentenced to a prison term of 18 months to four years for hitting a Lincoln man in the head with a baseball bat after a night of drinking.

Thirty-eight-year-old Ronnie Patterson, of Montgomery, Alabama
pleaded no contest to second-degree assault.

Police say early in the morning of August 20th last year they found a
29-year-old man inside an apartment, kneeling and bleeding from a
cut to the back of his head from a baseball bat.

Witnesses told officers that Patterson hit the victim after the
victim pushed Patterson and Patterson fell down.

In court on Monday, Patterson apologized, saying he wished it
had never happened.

His attorney says it wouldn't have happened if they had not been
drinking.
