A 37-year-old Lincoln man is returning to prison.

Nick Janes was sentenced on Monday to 16 to 22 years in prison. He'd pleaded no contest to possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person and two counts of third-degree assault of an officer.

Lancaster County District Judge Robert Otte ruled that Janes was a habitual criminal, which requires a mandatory minimum 10-year sentence.

Janes has at least three previous felony convictions and was on parole when he was arrested in May last year.
