The Gage County sheriff’s office says the good news is that 34-year-old Jeremy Shera and his 9-year-old daughter survived a crash caused by a drunk driver. The bad news is that Shera was the drunk driver.
Investigators say Shera, of Steinauer, Nebraska, was eastbound on Highway 4 when the lost control of his 1998 Oldsmobile. This happened about 7:50pm Sunday, a quarter mile east of South 162nd Road in Beatrice.
Shera’s car left the road and overturned several times. He and his daughter Shaylin Salts also of Steinauer were treated at Beatrice Community Hospital. Investigators say both were wearing their seatbelt. Shera was cited for DUI, child abuse/neglect, and driving with a suspended license.
After he was released from the hospital, Shera was arrested for having two warrants in Lancaster County. Specifics of those warrants were not made available.
