A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for areas west of Omaha until 11 p.m.; however, the metro area will likely have thunderstorms on and off throughout the overnight.
A man was shot multiple times on an Omaha street Wednesday afternoon.
Police tell WOWT 6 News the victim was sitting in his car at 49th and Hartman near the Sorensen Parkway when a gray SUV with two people inside pulled up and one of them opened fire just after 1:30 p.m. Family members said the victim, 30-year-old Brenis Vaughn, was visiting for Christmas. He was taken to Alegent Creighton Medical Center in critical condition.
Neighbors said violence is pretty common in the area. "I heard about six or seven, ya know pop, pop, pop, pop," said Lennard Jackson. "But I didn't say anything to my family, because it sounded more like a nail gun. I thought maybe somebody is working outside."
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 402-444-7867.
