Cass County, Nebraska Sheriff William C. Brueggemann says it was a close call for a Nebraska City Man. Lee Jacob St. Clair was driving southbound in Highway 75 Tuesday afternoon when he apparently fell asleep behind the wheel.
The 24-year-old man’s 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan crossed the center line, ran off the east side of the road, and narrowly missed the guardrail for the approaching bridge. This was about a mile south of Union, Nebraska.
The van traveled through some brush and small trees before coming to a rest in a creek. St. Clair and his passenger, 20-year old Devon Cropp of Nebraska City, refused treatment at the scene.
St. Clair was cited for having no proof of insurance. The sheriff says both men were wearing their seatbelt.
