Does a recent arrest mean that two fires in Omaha's Field Club neighborhood are now solved? No, in fact, there may be more questions after a bizarre incident involving a burglary and the discovery of a naked man in a swimming pool.
His trek began at a home in the Field Club area around 3 a.m. Wednesday. The homeowner told police he found his garage door open with burned cushions and matches inside. There were also burn marks on his car.
Moments later, the homeowner found 42-year-old Corey Baltzell in his pool, naked. Baltzell took of running, ending up at his ex-girlfriend's house where he was arrested. Police say Baltzell may be mentally ill.
The Field Club neighborhood has been the target of several intentional fires. There was an arson in May and another in August where a man was found dead inside a charred garage. That man has yet to be identified.
At this time, Baltzell faces charges of burglary and arson as well as domestic violence. Omaha fire officials won't say whether or not they are even looking at Baltzell for the other two arsons.
