A 9-year-old was bitten by a dog while trying to defend his mother during a domestic assault Saturday night in Lincoln.
Police were called to the 200 block of F Street about 8:45 p.m. where a 32-year-old woman was fighting with 41-year-old Cedric Fowler. Fowler allegedly kicked her in the stomach and pushed her down a flight of stairs.
Police say the woman's 9-year-old son then jumped on Fowler, who called his dog to attack the child. The dog bit the boy on his hand, but he was able to run to a neighbor who called police.
Fowler left the scene, but later as officers were talking to the boy outside he pointed to Fowler hiding nearby. Fowler started running, but was caught and jailed for second-degree assault, felony child abuse and domestic assault.
The woman and boy were treated for their injuries at the scene. Animal Control was called to take possession of the dog.
