Omaha police have made an arrest in a homicide from October of 2012.
Tracy Parnell was booked tonight for the homicide of Eriana Carr. Parnell was charged with 1st degree Murder, Felony Assault, 2 counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Parnell was originally arrested back in October. Parnell pointed a gun at and threatened Nakia Johnson, Carr's cousin in a separate incident. Johnson was shot 11 times and survived, while Carr died after the October 30, 2012 shooting.
"I mean, I think about it all the time, like there is not a day that doesn't pass that I don't think about Eriana," said Nakia Johnson, wounded in shooting.
Johnson said the news of Parnell's arrest brings her mixed emotions.
"When I was told I actually really didn't know how to feel, because like I was happy like that they were able to charge him with that, but it brought back memories so I was kinda like sad at the same time," said Johnson.
Johnson admits she still carries some resentment towards police. She still feels the shooting could have been prevented, because three days before the shooting, she called police reporting that Parnell had pulled a gun on her at another house.
Parnell was arrested for that incident, but then later bonded out of jail. The case is still going through the courts.
Johnson said she has been working to help police with the investigation.
"I cooperated anyways because I wanted to get justice for her," said Johnson.
Johnson said she will return to Omaha, if she is needed for a trial.
