A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight Sunday for much of eastern Nebraska, including Omaha. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for Nebraska counties south of the metro and a large portion of western Iowa, including Council Bluffs.
Lincoln Police have a man in custody following a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend.
Just before 9:00 p.m. Monday, police were called to a house in the 2400 block of South 10th Street for an assault.
Lincoln Police say said an argument turned physical between a woman and 40-year-old Jeff Hawkins broke out. Police say the woman's daughter's stepped in.
According to Officer Katie Flood, Hawkins then punched a 23-year-old daughter in the face. Flood says he then repeatedly pushed the woman's 21-year-old, pregnant daughter.
She says Hawkins then grabbed a knife to threaten the children and woman until he was able to leave the house.
Officers found Hawkins near the Kentucky Fried Chicken at 20th & South Streets where he was taken into custody.
Hawkins was lodged in jail for third degree assault on a pregnant woman, third degree domestic assault, third degree assault, two counts of making terroristic threats, two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony and child neglect.
Police say the girlfriend's 15-year-old daughter witnesses the fight.
