Action expected on HyVee store in the Westside development at Plattsmouth. Its on Monday night’s Plattsmouth City Council agenda.
It will be the first public discussion which identifies the potential new anchor store for the development between Plattsmouth Keno and Lucky’s on the north, and the Plattsmouth First Baptist Church on the south. The agenda item deals with a request to vacate a portion of Westside Drive.
A memo from City Administrator Erv Portis to the mayor and council says “HyVee’s purchase agreement with Westside is contingent on City approvals and completion of public infrastructure by June 1.”According to the Cassgram.
The 45,000 square foot store is planned for lot 9 with parking on lots 2 and 3. The preliminary plat shows the HyVee store would be on the lot immediately south of Plattsmouth Keno. The parking on lots 2 and 3 would be to the east of the store and just south of Lucky’s. The Westside Drive vacation request before council tonight is so that lots 2 and 3 will not be divided by a public street in their connection to lot 9.
HyVee’s building plan allows room for a 10,400 square foot expansion if needed, says Portis.
Infrastructure construction in the development is the next step if council approves the request and then, says Portis, the HyVee store construction is likely to commence late this year.
The entire Westside development was annexed into the city last year and previous city council action allows for tax increment financing on the infrastructure improvements.
