A Macy woman has been given 37 months in a federal prison for driving her vehicle into her sister.
A news release from the office of U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says 32-year-old Nicole Payer was sentenced on Monday. Payer was convicted of assault resulting in serious injuries. She also must pay restitution of more than $53,000.
Gilg's office says Payer was driving her sister and another person to Walthill on the Omaha Indian Reservation in November last year when an argument erupted. Payer stopped the sport utility vehicle and ordered her sister to get out.
Authorities say that as the sister and the other passenger walked away, Payer drove over the curb, onto a sidewalk and struck her sister. The woman suffered a broken leg that required surgery.
