For the second year in a row, MADD Nebraska is hosting Walk Like MADD in Omaha - walking to bring awareness to the crime of drinking and driving.
MADD says, "It is through this signature event that MADD is able to unite volunteers and supporters with our mission, engage them in our lifesaving work, deliver more programs and services and collaborate with leaders in our community to create a safer Nebraska."
MADD says, "Last year 91 people were killed on Nebraska roads by impaired drivers, nearly doubling the 2011 number. By raising money to support the MADD Nebraska mission of eliminating drunk driving, supporting victims and preventing underage drinking we are paving the way to safer roads in Nebraska and saving lives."
The Walke Like MADD event is scheduled for Sunday, October 13 at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. The opening ceremony will start at 2:00 p.m. and the walking begins at 2:30 p.m.
