Douglas County Deputies have an alleged thief in custody, but are looking for victims to claim the stolen goods they found.

Wednesday afternoon a truck with a strange license plate and even stranger tape around its back window sat outside the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Inside Charles Nugent and his hunting buddy were about to be reunited with some of the things stolen from their truck Tuesday night, after a thief broke in through the truck's window.

"It’s kind of depressing, especially the guns,” said Nugent.

A room at the sheriff's office had stolen items from many victims. The items covered three rows of tables, everything from stolen silver to passports and missing checkbooks.

“What we're seeing lately is pretty par for the course. Thieves go into numerous vehicles and they take anything of value,” said Lt. Mark Gentile with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities later arrested 27-year-old David Kelly for the crimes. They are asking any victims to contact them.

Charles Nugent and his hunting buddy are on their way home to Massachusetts.
