Former United States Senator Bob Kerrey has registered to vote in Nebraska. After retiring from the U.S. Senate 12 years ago Kerrey moved to New York City. Kerrey listed as his address the home of his sister in West Omaha.
Several news organizations in Washington have been reporting for several days that Kerrey will run for the Democratic nomination for senate in Nebraska. The decision comes just three weeks after Kerrey said he would not run.
The former senator was spotted Tuesday night at the Central High School basketball game by Channel 6 News Sports Director Ross Jernstrom. Kerrey told Jernstrom a public announcement could be forthcoming as early as Wednesday.
Kerrey attended the game with Susie Buffett, daughter of Omaha billionaire Warren Buffett. Susie Buffett is a Central High School Alum and a long-time supporter of the school.
Kerrey is in town through Thursday. The deadline to file paperwork with the Secretary of State is 5 p.m. Thursday.
