Two Red Cross Volunteers from the metro area are on their way to Kentucky to help out in the relief efforts where hundreds of people were displaced by tornadoes in 11 states last week.

Jay Beerman, an EMT from Alma, will serve as a Disaster Health Services Supervisor. James Sheaffer of Chadron is also helping out those in need.

Health workers are helping replace things like lost medications and eyeglasses, help with accounting, and procuring materials.

The Red Cross will be on the ground in all of these affected areas for weeks to help people get back on their feet and make sure disaster caused needs are met.

Disaster relief workers around the country are volunteering their time and effort to help those in need.

Red Cross emergency vehicles are delivering meals throughout affected communities and in the coming days, relief supplies like shovels, rakes, trash bags, work gloves and tarps will be handed out to help people clean-up their neighborhoods.
