The success of our local teams in the NCAA Tournament means big bucks for local businesses.
College basketball fans flocked to Aksarben Village to enjoy local restaurants and sports bars.
"We have seen an up-tick since the tournament started the Huskers game and the Creighton game were both huge hits so we've been excited to see everyone out to support the local teams," said Timothy Malm, the co-owner of Dudley's Pizza and Tavern.
Timothy Malm and his brother Robert opened the restaurant in December and said this weekend has been one of their busiest since opening.
"A lot of people they come and they stick out their spots and then they were here for the whole day," said Robert Malm.
At Aksarben Cinema they are playing the Creighton game Sunday for free in one of their theaters, which they say draws people in.
"We call this our living room and if we can bring people into our living room to enjoy a big game with us on the big screen that's what we're about," said Bill Barstow, the owner of Aksarben Cinema.
Fans like that local businesses are supporting local teams.
"One of the things I like about Omaha is all the team spirit we see and for our businesses to step up and support our teams is absolutely wonderful," said Don Seten.
