Two schools in the Heartland have received the highly distinguished National Blue Ribbon School Award for 2013. St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Elkhorn and Harlan Community High School were among 286 individual public and private schools named Tuesday.
The honors go to schools that have either achieved the highest levels of education in their state or because the students are making outstanding improvements in academic achievements.
Since the award was founded in 1982, more than 7,000 individual schools have received the honor for the U.S. Department of Education.
