Local Music Artist Releases Song To Spotlight Unsolved Crimes
An Omaha artist well known throughout the community is trying to bring awareness to unsolved cases through her music.
"I kind of figured that people pay more attention to Youtube video and entertainment and not the news, because the news can be sad and so forth, so I kind of brought the news to my music video so that they can watch it."
In the song Shannon Marie talks about Tyler Thomas and Larceeda McIntosh, along with the murder of her older brother.
Thomas went missing back in December, 2010. Originally of Bellevue, she was last seen near the campus of Peru State College, where she was a freshman.
The last person to have allegedly seen her alive, Joshua Keadle, was named as a person of interest but never charged. He is now in prison serving time for a separate incident involving the sexual assault of a girl in Fremont.
Thomas' family has filed a lawsuit against the school relating to her assumed murder, citing gross negligence and failure to protect Thomas.
Larceeda McIntosh was shot and killed in Omaha back in April, 2011.
No one has been arrested in the murder. She was shot inside her home at 28th Avenue and Newport. A friend, Brontea Evans, was shot in the arm when someone fired at least five shots through a bedroom window. McIntosh died at the hospital, she was 25 years old.
Ennis also makes mention of why she relates to the victim's families in the song, entitled "Can You Hear Me? (I Miss You)." Her older brother was murdered when she was 6 years old. While they did get justice in his case, she knows the pain with dealing with a tragic loss of a loved one.
