"Old Market" Drummers Featured In Omaha Commercial

Ever wanted to star in your own commercial? The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau are giving you the chance. It’s a part of their “Welcome to the Weekend” campaign, where they ask you to invite them into your unique Omaha weekend.

“We use pretty much anything else we can find to makes sounds,” said Justin Fischer of Street Beats.

‘You make your own crowd and by the energy that you create it's awesome,” said Jeff Babcock of Street Beats.

Fischer leads the group drummers that take to the streets to inspire some beats. They are currently being featured in one of 5 commercials that air around the Midwest.

“We went down to the old market, played on some buckets and it took off from there,” said Fischer.

That’s where it started, back in July, when they played to raise money for Jeff Babcock.

“I’m adopting right now from Korea, right now, he is 3 right now and we are trying to get him home,” said Babcock.

They have a goal to raise $30,000. But during their first performance someone recorded one of their songs. Then they submitted that to the contest.

“Omaha is a great city; there is great people here, and great musicians great artists and great opportunity to be able to represent that,” said Babcock.

The commercial features them in the Old Market, and asks everyone to “drum up some fun this weekend at VisitOmaha.com.” Fischer says it’s fitting and represents everything that inspires them to play.

“We rehearse right here in Benson so it's awesome to represent the city,” said Fischer.

“Everything is an instrument. We're always making beats and tapping stuff with our hands,” said Babcock.

The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau are still taking submissions for other videos. All you have to do is visit http://www.omahaweekend.com/ to add your video. They are looking for videos that show what makes you weekend distinctively Omaha.
