A shoplifter attempted to steal 36 bottles of whiskey from a Papillion grocery. The Jack Daniel's had been in three display boxes at a No Frills store when the suspect put the cases in a cart and walked out.
An employee confronted the suspect who ran and a car that was waiting for the man drove off. The boxes of Jack Daniel's left behind in the parking lot.
It’s the fifth time a No Frills store was hit by booze bandits the past few weeks. Loss Prevention Supervisor Jason Owens said, “We’ve gotten information from different sources that some of the product is getting sold on the streets.”
Jason said he's heard of someone walking into a salon offering to sell high priced gin. He said loss prevention employees are watching liquor isles closely and some expensive booze is kept under lock and key.
