A 61-year-old Lincoln woman has been given three years of probation for her role in an online scam.
Beverley Mielke also was ordered to pay nearly $4,500 in restitution. She'd pleaded guilty to theft by deception and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Authorities say a Venezuelan man reported sending Mielke a check to buy 20 tablet computers but never got them.
Lincoln police checked her bank records and confirmed that she'd deposited the check.
Police also say that when Mielke was arrested, a fraudulent check for $3.8 million was found in one of her pockets.
