Three separate traffic stops on Interstate 80 near Lincoln, led to Nebraska State Patrol troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol to seizing 65 lbs of marijuana and eight arrests.
On Monday, a trooper noticed two eastbound vehicles following too close. They appeared to be traveling together.
The trooper stopped the first vehicle near the 27th Street Interchange where a K-9 officer smelled an odor of drugs coming from the vehicle. A search led to the seizure of 38.5 lbs. of marijuana in duffel bags in the vehicle’s luggage carrier.
At the 56th Street Interchange a trooper stopped the second vehicle for following too close. During the traffic stop it was determined the car was traveling with those in the other car.
On Sunday, a trooper stopped a speeding car near the Lincoln Airport Interchange. A search led to the seizure of 10.3 lbs. located in a duffle bag in the rear cargo area.
And on Saturday, a trooper stopped another speeding vehicle near the same interchange. The trooper smelled marijuana, conducted a search and found 16.2 lbs. of marijuana in two suitcases in the vehicle’s cargo area.
Eight people were arrested in the three incidents and each charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
