A 39-year-old Nebraska man has been sentenced to three to six years in prison for robbing a Walmart last year even though he says he didn't have a gun.
Cedric Rigsby was sentenced this week for robbery. Prosecutors say Rigsby took a laptop computer and two video game consoles from a Lincoln Walmart last May after showing a handgun to
a garden center clerk.
Deputy Lancaster County Public Defender Webb Bancroft says what
Rigsby did is closer to shoplifting than robbery. Rigsby maintains
he didn't have a gun, but pleaded no contest to robbery.
Prosecutor Amy Jacobsen says the gun Rigsby used may not have
been real because his girlfriend's son was missing his BB gun, but
the victim believed it was real.
