A Lincoln businessman who didn't turn over state sales tax that his business had charged has been given 60 days in jail and four years of probation.
Sixty-three-year-old Geoffrey Gibbs and his wife own Hartland Cleaning
Services. He'd pleaded guilty to failure to pay sales tax. A similar charge against his wife was dropped.
Court records say a state investigator determined that Gibbs charged state sales tax for his cleaning services for about 18 months but didn't turn over the money to the state.
Before Gibbs was sentenced last week, he agreed to pay nearly $18,000 in restitution.
