A 28-year-old man has been given 50 to 80 years in prison for a gang-related shooting outside a Lincoln bar.
Anthony Escamilla had pleaded no contest to assault and weapons charges for the shooting and to an arson charge for a fire he started December 16 in the Lancaster County Jail.
Escamilla was sentenced on Monday to 25 to 40 years on both the assault and weapons charges and 10 years for the arson. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Prosecutors say Escamilla used a handgun to shoot Luis Garcia, of Grand Island, on May 14 last year. The bullet lodged in Garcia's brain stem, and prosecutors say Garcia isn't expected to recover.
