Lincoln building inspectors have barred residents from 32 apartments because of walkway dangers.
A contractor was repairing a second-floor walkway at the 47-unit
French Quarter complex when it gave way on Monday morning. No
injuries have been reported.
Lincoln's chief building inspector, Mel Goddard, says some of
the apartments are all but unreachable because of the collapse.
Other residents are imperiled by a connected walkway.
Goddard says a corrugated steel pan supporting the concrete slab
Mark Bousek is president of MBA Apartments LLC, which owns the
building. He says a new walkway could be built in two days but will
require approval by a structural engineer.
